"If you're going to live, leave a legacy. Make a mark on the world that can't be erased."

About Us
I am Legacy, Inc. is a federal and state registered non-profit organization whose mission is to serve under privileged youth of African lineage and descent, as well as those close to them.
This organization was founded by the legacy and in memory of
Ms. Cladie Mae Wideman.
1919-2018
Our Founder
JaLeesa B. Wideman stands strong on the word "Legacy".
After the loss of her great-grandmother and best friend, Cladie M. Wideman in May 2018, rather than lament her passing, JaLeesa chose to honor her great-grandmother's legacy. Possessing a masters degree in Public Administration and over 10 years of experience in non-profit management, JaLeesa's passion and desire to help and be of service to youth of color has gone beyond her residential community, but international. JaLeesa believes that all children of African lineage and descent should have a chance at a full life; a chance to create their own impactful mark and legacy in this world.
JaLeesa's only prayer is to leave a lasting mark on each young person she meets, just as her great-grandmother left her lasting legacy upon her.

GLAM
GLAM (Girls Learning and Mentoring) Program is geared exclusively for girls of color ages 5-17. GLAM's vision and purpose is to instill self-confidence, self-awareness, self-love and self-worth values through age appropriate activities and exercises. Participants of GLAM should expect to be empowered and motivated to achieve everyday challenges of being a young female.
Generation Tech
The goal for Generation Tech is to close the barrier and gap between people of color and technology. Technology is ever evolving and advancing. Generation Tech's program is structured to help advance young people of color, as new forms of technology emerges. From this, "Generation Technicians" will be able to spread knowledge to other generations, past, present and future.
Back to Our Roots
Our "Back to Our Roots Initiative" gives the opportunity for us to serve and give back to the land and heritage in which our lineage began, West Africa. Launched this summer, I am Legacy has had the opportunity to serve over 20 village children in Togo, West Africa with providing school supplies in their pursuit to attend school for the 2023-2024 academic school year.
Continuing this initiative, our goal is to double our number of children served each journey granted.
Living for Legacy
I am Legacy believes in the quote, "Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food". Our Living for Legacy program is prepared to do just that. Healthy living is important to continue legacy. Through our healthy living initiative participant will learn new and exciting ways to reverse, maintain and preserve their health not only through diet, but through exercise, destressing and life style change.
